An Architect is an individual experienced in architectural design, process and construction. He or she is licensed by the state and must have a degree in Architecture from an accredited college, with a minimum of 2-3 years in professional practice as a apprentice to an Architect before being allowed to sit for the Registration Exam. Only upon successful completion of the exam is an individual a licensed professional.

Based on a Client's needs, an Architect uses his or her experience, skill and inspiration to create a functional, livable art. Architecture can enhance a person's quality of life, increase one's appreciation of beauty and change one's mood.
Architects also provide functional, practical and economic advantages to the homeowner. Good space planning not only helps one feel organized but gives the best value and most space for the money spent. This is accomplished, in part, by eliminating useless and poorly planned spaces, and by specifying materials and verifying building costs. The Architect guides the Client though the building and design processes, and acts as the Client's agent or representative with the Contractor. The construction drawings and specifications produced by the Architect illustrate exactly the building the Client expects.
If the Owner desires, the Architect can provide services throughout the actual construction process, including verifying the cost of actual construction finished throughout the building process (to aid in payment scheduling), and checking quality of work and materials. The Architect may also oversee the bidding process to procure the best and most economical Contractor for the Client's project, and provide the contract documents to the Owner and Contractor.
